We are delighted to announce that following confirmation from the Department of Health and Tennis Ireland members Over 70 living within 5km of the Club may now play tennis in accordance to the guidelines previously issued.

Please see the statement below from Tennis Ireland received 17th May 2020 and we have updated our Phase 1 Guidelines for Players – link below.

We will continue to keep you informed if any other guidelines change.

COVID19 Phase 1 Guidelines for Players

Dear President / Secretary
The health and wellbeing of our players is Tennis Ireland’s number one priority.  In return for our sport being allowed to reopen, albeit on a restricted basis, we are fully committed to following Government policy.
Following the release of a statement by Mr. Simon Harris TD, Minister for Health, last night, confirming that over 70’s can play Golf and Tennis if they live within a 5km radius of their home club, Tennis Ireland would like to update its guidance to clubs and remove the previously advised restriction on play that related to players age 70 years and over.

Players within this cohort are still strongly advised to cocoon and avoid contact with others, but can play, if they so choose and live within a 5km radius of their club.

We look forward to welcoming this cohort of players back as we begin to reopen our sport, albeit on a restricted basis, from Monday 18th May.
All Clubs and players are reminded to ensure they take the appropriate safety measures before, during and after play.
Regards
Richard Fahey
