Tennis Ireland Update re Phase 2 – 5th June 2020
Posted: June 6, 2020

See update below from Tennis Ireland on Friday afternoon 5th June following Phase 2 Government Guidelines.

We will keep you posted on any developments!

“Dear All

You will be aware that Tennis Ireland released its Phase 2 Guidelines to clubs earlier this week.

As outlined, the Guidelines issued were subject to amendment if Government advice was updated in advance of or during Phase 2 of the Roadmap for Reopening Society.

You may have noted that several announcements were made this afternoon that have accelerated the easing of several restrictions in Phase 2 beyond what was envisaged in the original Roadmap.

For your information, on the back of the Government update issued today, we have reengaged with the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport Expert Group in order to seek clarification as to how today’s announcements and accelerated easing of restrictions will relate to tennis.  We ask for your patience while this process takes place and will issue updated guidelines in this regard as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we can confirm that from Monday June 8th, club members can travel within their county to participate in Tennis activities.

It should be noted that all other protocols outlined in our Phase 2 Guidance documents,  including indoor courts staying closed and the restricting of doubles play to partners from the same household, should remain in place until further clarification is forthcoming from the Department of Sport Expert Group.

Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.

Regards

Richard Fahey
